”SS” Screen Scenery
Cocoro Nakaura was born in Tokyo in 1998. He believes that pictorial art always represents the era in which it was made, and his works revolve around the central theme of "pop art in the digital age." Inspired to create them after realizing that he was spending more time staring at his smartphone screen rather than the passing scenery during his commute to art school, Nakaura formulated each of his art pieces in the pop-art style, inspired by large numbers of images from various unknown origins. Pop art is an expressive form from a past era of mass production and mass consumption which aimed to sublimate things encountered in daily life into unique art. Now, Nakaura explores the very essence of pictorial art that gives expression to the era through works that make use of contemporary, mass-produced images.
