Having long regarded the flow of information through smartphones and computers as a kind of "landscape of our times," COCORO NAKAURA has increasingly blurred the boundaries of painting styles—perhaps as a way of expressing the ambiguity of contemporary reality itself. The title of this solo exhibition, “2 side,” refers to two distinct series: “Portrait,” which depicts digital landscapes, and “Staining,” which captures scenes from the physical world. Nakaura challenges himself to explore the in-between space that connects these two realms. By contemplating the intersection of these landscapes, his work may reflect the lived experience of people today, who constantly move between the digital and physical worlds. Through this perspective, he continues to seek a new way for painting to represent our era.
